What does wind look like?

I could tell you the effects of wind.

I could tell you what wind feels like as it brushes against my face.

I could even describe how I think wind moves.

But tell you what it looks like?

I can’t do it.

Even so, I know it is there.

I have faith in knowing that wind exists.

I am sure of it.

I believe in God.

I believe that He sent His Son, Jesus, to pay the penalty for our sins.

I can’t tell you exactly what Jesus looks like.

I can’t tell you a place where you could go and “see” God.

I can tell you what effect God has had on me.

I can tell you how He forgave me.

I can tell you what it feels like to know that forgiveness down in my heart.

I can tell you what it’s like to experience God moving in my life.

I have faith in God…..

The Wind Blows

Nicodemas was a Pharisee who was alive during Jesus’ time on the earth.

This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”  Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’  The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

He Who Forms Mountains and Creates the Wind

Driving around the town one morning, my husband and I noticed a windmill placed on top of a home in a residential area.

That’s not a common thing to see…..

It was obviously very important in someone’s mind.

There was no doubt that day which direction the wind was blowing.

God has created all things.

Amos 4:13 reads,

For behold, He who forms mountains and creates the wind
And declares to man what are His thoughts,
He who makes dawn into darkness
And treads on the high places of the earth,
The LORD God of hosts is His name.

What would it be like if we were as obedient to God as the windmill is to the blowing of the wind?

Whatever way the air is moving, the windmill responds.

It never decides, “I don’t want to move that way.”

This direction—-that direction—-it’s all up to the wind to decide.

This direction—-that direction—-shouldn’t it all be up to God to decide for you?
