All Your Need

But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

—Philippians 4:19
Philippians 4:19 was perhaps the first verse I can remember memorizing.

I was in college, and newly married, I believe.

It was a very good verse to know, because it is true that God will provide.

Today I am thankful for the great blessings God has given me.

They are too many to list.

Now, at the end of the day, as I sit in a quiet house with my cat lying on the chair with me, I am thoughtful.

Is there anything that I have ever needed or that I will ever need that God cannot provide according to His riches in glory?

If I need a car, He’s able to provide one.

If I need a home, He’s able to provide that, too.

But it’s much more than that.

He is able to provide salvation for me.

He is able to provide healing in my relationships.

He is able to provide guidance and strength.

He is able to provide a peaceful heart.

All my need—supplied.

Through His riches in glory.

By Christ Jesus.

Everlasting Rock

Trust in the LORD forever,
for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.

–Isaiah 26:4

If we trust in ourselves for guidance without God, who are we to have the answers?

We are feeble.

We are human.

He is God.

When we try to do things our way instead of His way, who are we to know what is best?

We are feeble.

We are human.

He is God.

If we trust in God all of our lives, we are putting our confidence in an everlasting rock.

We are feeble.

We are human.

He is God.

We are to be thankful….

Do Not Be Anxious

Do not be anxious about anything,

but in everything by prayer and supplication

with thanksgiving let your requests

be made known to God.

And the peace of God,

which surpasses all understanding,

will guard your hearts

and your minds

in Christ Jesus.

By Prayer and Petition

After recently watching a movie that was centered on the power of prayer, I made a decision.

In the film, the main character wrote prayers down on paper and attached them to the wall of her closet.

It was there that she prayed for many concerns.

Considering what the greatest burdens of my heart are, I have begun to write down specific prayers and tape them to a wooden wardrobe in my closet.

When each prayer has been answered, I will be able to write that answer on the small pieces of paper that are posted there.

In just writing down my most heartfelt longings, I realize that my intercessory concerns are too big for me to handle.

I can’t change someone’s attitude.

I can’t give someone else the gift of wisdom.

I can’t heal someone from disease.

I can’t choose the perfect job for someone else.

I can’t.

But God can.

Coming to Him in prayer about anything and everything, is the best possible action.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Give Thanks

I am thankful.

My house is warm inside.

I ate dinner tonight.

My closet is filled with clothes and shoes.

I have a reliable car.

My refrigerator has food in it.

I also have food in my pantry.

I am blessed with a family and with friends.

I am blessed to have a job.

Besides these things, I am blessed with forgiveness and a promise of life forever with God.

I am blessed with the privilege of prayer.

I am blessed with the presence of God every moment of my life.

I am blessed with the goodness of God, my Creator.

I am blessed with His steadfast love that will never end.

What are you thankful for today?

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!

–Psalm 107:1
