Continual Sacrifice

Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to His name.

—Hebrews 13:15

I am learning more and more about praising God.

Perhaps it would be better stated if I said that I am learning more and more to praise God for the things in my life.

Not just actual things like a house or a car, but situations, too.

Praising Him for what is happening in my life and what has happened.

God is worthy of praise.

That doesn’t change according to earthly circumstances.

As I am beginning to think about praising God even on occasions when difficulties arise, I am coming to understand that He allows events in my life and He will work for my good through them.

I Will Give Thanks

Salvation.

Redemption.

A new life here on earth.

The gift of eternal life in Heaven.

Forgiveness.

Unfailing love.

Guidance.

Assurance.

Peace.

I will give thanks to You, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all Your wonderful deeds.

Give Thanks

Give thanks to Him who made the heavenly lights–His faithful love endures forever.

—Psalm 136:7

Being thankful.

Being grateful.

Being appreciative.

Having a heart full of praise.

Having a heart full of devotion.

To recognize God’s faithfulness.

To know of God’s love deeply within your soul.

All praise belongs to God!

Devote Yourselves

We need God in every area of our lives.

He is at work whether we perceive it or not.

As we come to God in prayer, we remember that He is with us, understanding whatever situation we are experiencing.

If we are watchful, we will live in expectancy of God.

If we are thankful, we will remain in an attitude of appreciation and gratitude for all that He has done.

We need to come to God in prayer—

every day.

As I walked along the lake, I felt impressed to photograph the scene before me.

All was calm and serene.

Strong trees growing near the edge, laced with plants growing right out of the water.

Like those trees, I want to have my “roots” connected to Jesus, so that my life will thrive as I go about each day.

I want my life to be built on Him, being strong in faith.

~

As you received Christ Jesus the Lord,

so continue to live in Him.

Keep your roots deep in Him

and have your lives built on Him.

Be strong in the faith,

just as you were taught,

and always be thankful.

Your Worries

Walking along the dock tonight, it was peaceful and calm.

My heart was fairly peaceful and calm, as well.

The sun had long been gone, but a hint of orange still remained in the gray sky of dusk above me.

It was raining and the lights reflected in the soaking wood beneath my feet.

In the last couple of weeks or so, I’ve had many issues to bring before the Lord in prayer.

Already, there have been answers to some.

If I just stop to consider, I have so many blessings to be thankful for.

Despite the issues that seem difficult and overwhelming, there are so many things that are right and good.

Things that are just as they should be, or actually, even better.

1 Peter 5:7 reads,

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.”

God loves us.

He doesn’t want us to be sick with worry and concern over things that are in His control.

He wants us to come to Him with our concerns.

I am thankful.

My house is warm inside.

I ate dinner tonight.

My closet is filled with clothes and shoes.

I have a reliable car.

My refrigerator has food in it.

I also have food in my pantry.

I am blessed with a family and with friends.

I am blessed to have a job.

Besides these things, I am blessed with forgiveness and a promise of life forever with God.

I am blessed with the privilege of prayer.

I am blessed with the presence of God every moment of my life.

I am blessed with the goodness of God, my Creator.

I am blessed with His steadfast love that will never end.

What are you thankful for today?

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!

–Psalm 107:1
