“The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in His name.” (Luke 24:46-47)
When I got up this morning, I was planning to go to a funeral later in the day.
The sister of a dear friend of mine had passed away after battling cancer.
A couple of hours later, I received a phone call with the news that my cousin, who was also battling cancer, had died.
Both my friend’s sister and my cousin were Christians.
I know they are both with Jesus now and that is a comfort to me and to their families.
After leaving the funeral this afternoon, I drove to the cemetery.
As I was leaving the grounds, I noticed some beautiful red flowers blooming at the entrance by a brick wall.
Flowers so vibrant and full of life!
For those of us who know Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we will live for eternity with Him.
Vibrant and full of life, as well.
One of my favorite passages in the Bible is found in the conversation between Jesus and Martha when her brother, Lazarus, had died, just before He raised Him to life.
Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
“Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
My cousin and my friend’s sister believed that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of God.
