In Your Unfailing Love

But I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation.

—Psalm 13:5

Your love is unfailing and so is Your faithfulness.

No matter what happens, my heart can rejoice in knowing that I have a place in Heaven with You.

I can never repay You for all the blessings You have given to me.

Everything I have is Yours.

When I sleep at night, You watch over me.

When I wake in the morning, You see me open my eyes.

Help me to live each day as You want me to.

Please give me wisdom to do Your will in every situation.

Thank You for giving me life.

Make a Loud Noise

As I was turning into my friend’s neighborhood, I happened to look toward the west.

What I saw was so incredible!

A giant anvil cloud was absolutely bursting into the atmosphere.

It appeared to be so large, it dwarfed the houses and trees below.

Pulling my car to the side of the road, I immediately got my camera out to photograph such a stunning sight.

From where I was, the massive cloud structure made no sound, yet its presence was loud and commanding.

Psalm 98:4 reads,

“Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.”

In those moments, the clouds and the sun sang a duet of silent, yet loud, praise to their Maker.

Flowers Will Bloom

A wasteland.

Right after a natural disaster, that’s exactly what things look like.

Nothing in place.

Most everything is broken.

What could thrive there?

A wasteland.

A vast area of dry, rocky land with no vegetation.

What could thrive there?

You might not have experienced a natural disaster or ever even seen land devoid of plant life and water, but I’ll bet you’ve known a different kind of wasteland.

Spiritual wasteland.

Relational wasteland.

Financial wasteland.

These wastelands are real, all right.

What can thrive there?

Only the rocky, dusty soil of guilt, regret, and defeat.

It’s no place to be, yet once there, it’s hard to imagine circumstances getting better.

It’s hard for us, but not for God.

When He sees the desert, He knows He can bring the rain.

He can see the flowers bursting forth from the ground before a seed has even been covered.

When God sees our wastelands, He knows it can change.

He knows there can be spiritual healing, if we want it.

He knows that relationships can be healed.

He knows that He can provide for us when we trust Him.

He sees what we cannot see.

If you’re living in a wasteland right now, talk to God.

Pray and open your heart.

Ask Him to restore what is dry and barren.

Pray for the flowers……..

The desert will rejoice,
and flowers will bloom in the wastelands.

—Isaiah 35:1

Rejoice and Be Glad

Driving along in the shopping area of a nearby city, my husband noticed a fountain that had been placed in the parking lot.

As we drove past the plumes of pulsing water, he noticed that a duck had found the fountain, as well.

Quickly, I grabbed my camera and got out of the car while my husband found a place to park.

The duck was quite obliging in my quest to photograph him as he was enjoying his moments of refreshment.

His orange feet and toes were being constantly washed with the motion of the water as though he were standing in a Jacuzzi tub.

He was magnificently colored with a bright blue stripe on his side.

God created ducks to joyously live and play in the water.

On a hot day, surrounded by concrete and parked cars, this bird found an unexpected respite.

In the middle of an inhospitable environment, a silent invitation to play, drink, and cool off was answered by a

mottled duck, happy to accept.

Aren’t there times when God provides such things for us?

On a tired afternoon, when weariness weighs heavy, suddenly—–there it is.

An encouraging note from a friend, a surprise birthday party or a roadside park, complete with a bench in the shade.

God knows what we need and He knows what brings us joy.

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

—Psalm 118:24

Rejoice In All His Faithfulness

Driving home around sunset, I noticed a break in the gray clouds ahead of me.

Many times, sunsets are a brilliant orange, red and yellow.

Other times, it seems that they take on only a white and gray glow.

Such was today.

The break in the vast silver curtain of clouds was so bright it couldn’t be looked at straight on.

Pulling off the highway, I photographed the scene in the sky above a tree nursery.

I had been listening to a song as I drove.

Part of the lyrics say,

All of my life, in every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship

The sun shines brightly, no matter what circumstances I may find myself in.

As consistent as the sun is, it will one day cease.

In all my life and for eternity, God will still be God.

All powerful.

I will always have a reason to worship Him.

It is good to say thank you to the Lord, to sing praises to the God who is above all gods.

Every morning tell him, “Thank you for your kindness,” and every evening rejoice in all his faithfulness.  Sing his praises, accompanied by music from the harp and lute and lyre.  You have done so much for me, O Lord. No wonder I am glad! I sing for joy.

O Lord, what miracles you do! And how deep are your thoughts!

—Psalm 92:1-5

In All Circumstances

It’s raining now, and I am quietly sleepy.

A few days ago, I started getting sick.

The sinus kind of sick with watery eyes and sneezing.

The kind of sick that keeps you at home, away from people.

My husband left for church this morning, leaving me with our tuxedo cat and basset hound.

Reflective, I considered my life and the lives of those that I love.

The Christmas tree in the room stood tall with decorations interspersed between its branches.

I didn’t want to be sick, but since I was, I found comfort in spending time alone, thinking, remembering and sometimes, in prayer.

1 Thesalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always,  pray continually,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
