The water from the ocean crawls relentlessly up onshore, traveling with intensity and force.

In a moment, as though it had specific orders to do so, it stops–and returns to the vast sea from which it came, leaving behind evidence of its short presence there.

Often, ripples form in the sand.

Intriguing and magnificent, mathematical and perfect; ordered, yet chaotic.

If I could take a photograph of the shore just after the recession of a wave and then measure each ripple with great accuracy, what would I find?

The numbers would certainly show God’s design–a picture of His Divine calculation.

The sand between my toes, the feel of the ripples left behind.

The sensation of cool water passing over my feet.

These are grand testimonies of the power and creativity of the Maker of the universe.

Many, O LORD my God, are your wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are toward us: they cannot be recounted in order unto you: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

–Psalm 40:5

Great Are The Works

Have you ever noticed……?

What does it mean to notice something?

To give focused attention to it.

To observe it.

To appraise it.

To evaluate it.

God has made everything.

Everything.

The magnificence of His creative work in a flash of  lightning is the same as the magnificence of His creative work in the petals of a flower.

All the works of God are beautiful and majestic, from the tiniest bacteria to the largest nebula in space.

All the works of God are to be noticed.

They are given to us so we can delight in them and in our Creator.

Look around!

Have you ever noticed……?

He Who Forms Mountains and Creates the Wind

Driving around the town one morning, my husband and I noticed a windmill placed on top of a home in a residential area.

That’s not a common thing to see…..

It was obviously very important in someone’s mind.

There was no doubt that day which direction the wind was blowing.

God has created all things.

Amos 4:13 reads,

For behold, He who forms mountains and creates the wind
And declares to man what are His thoughts,
He who makes dawn into darkness
And treads on the high places of the earth,
The LORD God of hosts is His name.

What would it be like if we were as obedient to God as the windmill is to the blowing of the wind?

Whatever way the air is moving, the windmill responds.

It never decides, “I don’t want to move that way.”

This direction—-that direction—-it’s all up to the wind to decide.

This direction—-that direction—-shouldn’t it all be up to God to decide for you?
