Honeycomb

Pleasant words are a honeycomb,

Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

—Proverbs 16:24

Would you like to bring healing to someone today?

It is quite possible that the kind words you speak will:

Bind up a wounded heart.

Give hope in the midst of despair.

Bring laughter when tears have recently fallen.

Deliver strength to a weary mind–

Pleasant words.

Caring words.

Sincere words.

Loving words.

Words that God would want you to speak.

Would you like to bring healing to someone today?

Great Is Your Faithfulness

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    His mercies never come to an end;
 they are new every morning;
    great is Your faithfulness.

—Lamentations 3:22-23

There will never be a day that we awaken to find that the Lord no longer loves us.

We will never cease to find Him merciful.

He is faithful forever.

A Glass Darkly

There is an old hymn titled, “We’ll Understand It Better By and By”  written by Charles Albert Tindley.

Here are some of the lyrics:

Trials dark on every hand,
and we cannot understand
all the ways of God would lead us
to that blessed promised land;
but He guides us with his eye,
and we’ll follow till we die,
for we’ll understand it better by and by.

Trials, hardships.

Storms.

Arguments.

Illnesses.

They make our vision dark and confusing.

We may ask ourselves why God would lead us to live with Him someday through a journey that looks like the one we’re on.

Sometimes, it is difficult to understand.

Yet, He does guide us and we must follow Him.

We will understand the “whys” of our lives later on.

1 Corinthians 13:12 reads,

“For now we see through a glass, darkly;

but then face to face:

now I know in part;

but then shall I know

even as also I am known.”

It’s hard to see at times, looking through a glass.

The images are skewed and our perception is weak.

There will be a day when the story of our own life will be clear.

We will understand it better, by and by.

By Faith

Recently, I was in a Bible study group that was discussing Noah and the ark. The account of what happened in those days is rich with topics of consideration.

Why did God choose to flood the entire earth?

Why did He choose to spare Noah and his family?

How did Noah have continual faith when God was asking him to do things he didn’t fully understand?

What made his wife and his sons and their wives have faith, as well?

Why did they choose to stick with Noah as he obeyed God and built the ark?
One thing stands out to me in this biblical account.

Noah obeyed God even when it likely did not make sense to him.

Build a boat?

What’s a boat?

Rain?

What’s rain?

Gather all those animals?

How?
Noah obeyed God.

Noah believed God.

Noah trusted God.

By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

—–Hebrews 11:7

Lilies

“And why worry about your clothing?

Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow.

They don’t work or make their clothing,

yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.

And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers

that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow,

He will certainly care for you.

Why do you have so little faith?”

–Matthew 6:28-30

Save the World

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

—John 3:17

It was through Jesus that I was saved.

God sent Him so that I might be saved.

It is through Jesus that you may be saved.

God sent Him so that you could be saved.

The question is, do you believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God?

Two Great Lights

God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.

—Genesis 1:16

Today, I photographed the eclipse of the sun in my area. It was covered at 85 percent.

Photographing  it through a filter, the sun appeared orange.

The sun? God made it.

The moon? God made it.

The earth?

He made it, too.

He allows us to gaze upon His cosmic gallery from this most blessed creation we call home.

Gentle

Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near.

—Philippians 4:5

Everyone we meet should be able to say that we are gentle in our interactions with others.

Along with that, what if we could show all men that we were giving, empathetic, nurturing, trustworthy, loving and encouraging?

Wouldn’t that change some things?

Troubled

Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.

—John 14:1

Do not let your heart–

my heart,

the part of me that is,

that thinks,

that tries to understand

Be troubled—

worried, distraught, fearful, anxious

Believe in God–

God, my Father in Heaven,

the Creator,

the one who holds the universe together

Believe also in Me—

Jesus, the one who died in my place

to pay the penalty for my sin,

who loves me greatly with no conditions

Take Delight

Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you your heart’s desires.

–Psalm 37:4

Webster’s Dictionary from 1884 has this to say when defining delight:

A high degree of pleasure, or satisfaction of mind; joy.

What would it be like if everyone in the world had great satisfaction of mind in the LORD?

Completion

And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

—Philippians 1:6

You have a plan for me

Like the islands in the distant horizon

On the north Atlantic shore

I cannot see the course in sharp perspective

Yet, there is confidence that each part of the journey

Will be what You have allowed

This transformation of my heart

Will be brought to completion

In Your time and in Your way

Mother’s Teaching

Hear, my son, your father’s instruction

And do not forsake your mother’s teaching;

—Proverbs 1:8

The little country restaurant sat nestled in the hills

A gentle rain obscuring the view

Sitting at my table, I saw the pair

In a distance, the mother and the foal

Huddling close, the younger never strayed

With green grass and yellow blooms

To brighten the dreary scene

Each moment a lesson in life

A mother’s love and teaching revealed

New Creation

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

—2 Corinthians 5:17

Who was that person I used to be?

What were my thoughts

In my old identity?

How did I reason that I’d be fine

Not trusting in God’s ways

But counting on mine?

Imprisoned with guilt, confusion and shame

My heart was filled with hurt and blame

Jesus came and filled my heart

His gift to me—a brand new start

Who was that person I used to be?

It matters not

Because today I am free!

He Refreshes My Soul

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters,
     He refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for His name’s sake.

—Psalm 23:1-3

The Lord is the one who truly takes care of us.

He is the one that can calm us as we lie down to rest.

The quiet waters that give physical and spiritual renewal are His gift to us.

The Lord refreshes us from the weariness draped upon us.

He guides us to the paths that He knows are best.

The Lord is the one who truly takes care of us.

For I Am Lonely

Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.

—Psalm 25:16

Who are those that are lonely?

The ones in need so deeply inside

They’re mixed in crowds

yet still, they hide

Who are those that are afflicted?

The ones so burdened with pain

They blend in around us

But the hurt continues to remain

It is not known to their hurting hearts

That God would take them in

Who are those that could tell them?

It’s you and I, my friend

This Is The Way

When I take a step

My gaze often on the road before me

Am I listening?

Listening for God

Awaiting His guidance

Walking in obedience

Instead of my own wisdom

Are my ears hearing a word behind me

Softly

Firmly

Telling me the way

When I take a step?

And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.

Come Forth From the Heart

Matthew 15:18

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart;

and they defile the man.

The thistle bloom that grew by the fence

Was purple and brilliant

Sitting atop a mathematical wonder

Of pale green points

The perfect orb

A faded base

With prickly spears

For all who touch

It’s nature will be known

Sharp and hurtful

Barbs formed

From the inside

Now out
