To Fish

Tonight I found out that the son of one of my good friends won second place in a fishing tournament.

For that to have become a reality, a few things had to have been in place.

First of all, he had to have a desire to catch fish.

After that, he had to go where fish were.

In order to get there, he took a boat.

He also had to have a rod and reel.

Next, he would have needed bait.

With all of these things in place, he was ready.

Ready for success.

Matthew 4:19 reads,

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

For that to become a reality, a few things have to be in place.

First of all, we have to follow Jesus.

After that, we must have a desire to fish for people, so that they may follow Him, as well.

We must go where people are.

To get there, we must use whatever means is needed at the time.

We also need the rod and reel—the testimony of God the Father and His Son, Jesus.

And the bait? Something that interests the people?

That would be learning that forgiveness is offered along with the promise of everlasting life.

Follow.

Desire.

Go.

Testify.

Proclaim forgiveness and salvation.

With all of these things in place, and with God as our strength, we are ready.

Ready for success as the Holy Spirit draws people to Himself.
