We see those words all the time.
We say those words all the time.
“I am seeking an apartment closer to my workplace.”
“Within the next year, I will pursue a degree in business from the local college.”
“I am looking for a good mechanic who can repair my car.”
“I have been searching for love my entire life.”
So, since those are familiar words, what does it mean to seek the kingdom of God?
And, beyond that, to seek it first?
Matthew 6:33 reads, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.”
How can we seek, look for, search for, and pursue God’s kingdom and His righteousness?
“So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For the idolaters eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
