A friend recently wrote a blog entry about how God brings people into our lives one at a time.
One person is divinely placed within your scope of care and influence, and then, another and another.
I was thinking today about some new friends that I had met.
We’ve talked some on a couple of occasions and I was considering the possibility of asking them to eat dinner at my home sometime.
Many thoughts run through my mind at lightning speed, just like everyone else’s.
After thinking the split-second thought about having them over for dinner, I immediately thought about how there are thousands and thousands of people I could meet.
The next sentence that popped into my head was, “You can’t invite thousands of people over for dinner!”
At that instant, I remembered my friend’s blog entry.
One at a time.
I can’t have thousands of people over for dinner.
I can’t sit and listen to thousands of people share about their struggles.
I can, however, begin with one.
And then, another one.
I think God brought that to my mind at just that moment to encourage me.
It’s almost a feeling of freedom to realize that God wants me to show His love to others as He brings them individually into my life—
one at a time.
John 13:34-35 reads,
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
