It was only for a minute or two.
A movie was on in a room that I entered.
As I watched in those brief couple of minutes, I took in a scene worth pondering.
I didn’t know the storyline.
I didn’t know what happened on the screen before I entered the room.
While I watched, though, there was definitely an "Oh, no!" moment.
A small airplane had, for some reason, landed at what looked to be a large airport.
Air traffic controllers were trying to get a message to the plane to get off the runway.
It wasn’t working…..
What the small plane was unaware of, the viewer begins to see.
Off in the distance, a very large passenger jet is coming in for a landing on the very same path.
The giant plane looming ever closer, the air traffic controller begins to scream over the radio:
"GET OFF THE RUNWAY!!!!"
Somehow, the small plane moves just in time to avoid a catastrophe.
A mental image I’m not likely to forget for quite a while, the contrast between the jet and the little plane is unsettling in that circumstance.
There are times when all of us are like the smaller plane.
For whatever reason, we are not where we should be.
We may be endangering ourselves—physically or spiritually, mentally or emotionally.
Friends may try to help us see the danger before it is too late.
After all, others can sometimes become aware of the harm that could befall us, even when we are oblivious to it.
God, however, will ALWAYS be aware of the harm that could befall us.
When our friends try to warn us of the consequences of our decisions, we should consider their words carefully.
When God warns us of consequences, we should heed His guidance immediately.
After all, no one wants to be sitting on the runway when the big plane lands……
It is better for a person to receive a rebuke from those who are wise
than to listen to the song of fools.
