What can God provide for you?
It’s tempting to think that we can handle things in our own way with our own resources, without considering God’s way.
And sometimes, we may even consider God’s way and then choose our own.
In the Old Testament book of 2 Chronicles, there is an account of a king named Amaziah.
As he contemplated attacking another country with his 300,000 soldiers, he decided to hire 100,000 troops.
The cost of the extra men was a hundred talents of silver—which is about 3.4 metric tons.
The Bible tells us that a man of God came to Amaziah to tell him that he was not to have these 100,000 troops march with them.
Amaziah asked the man of God, "But what about the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?"
The man of God replied, "The LORD can give you much more than that." –2 Chronicles 25:9
The next words are very important: So Amaziah dismissed the troops who had come to him from Ephraim and sent them home. –2 Chronicles 25:10a
Although Amaziah did not follow God wholeheartedly, he did make the right choice in this instance.
How many times have we wanted to hold on to a wrong decision?
"But I’ve invested so much in this!"
"It’s too late to change."
"I can’t turn back and choose another path."
It’s hard, isn’t it?
When faced with the reality that "The LORD can give you much more than that," there is only one best choice–
