While going along the sidewalk, I noticed some very large shamrocks growing.
It has been said that Saint Patrick used the shamrock to tell others about God–the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
If that is true, then he used something available to him to illustrate his faith.
1 Peter 3:15 reads, "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…"
Always be prepared.
Can you just imagine Saint Patrick speaking with someone along the road about God, and, with a calm sway of the arm as he bent over, bringing up a green shamrock from the soil?
And with that small plant, explaining his faith more clearly?
Always be prepared to give an answer.
What exactly is a relationship with God?
Who is Jesus?
Can sin be forgiven?
With gentleness and hope, we can share what God has done for the world through Jesus.
Is there someone you could talk to today?
