We’ve all been there.
Something happened and it’s our fault. Perhaps it was the broken flower pot when you were seven years old or the bent fender when you were seventeen. A feeling of dread may have come over you, encompassing every thought. You were going to have to tell that particular someone and you just weren’t sure if they would forgive you or not.
The fact is, throughout all our lives, there have probably been those who did not forgive us when we failed. Our worst expectations came true. Gratefully, there have likely been those who have accepted us graciously, assuring us and comforting us when we were the true cause of a particular difficulty.
God is like that, isn’t He? He acknowledges our botched efforts, our frail design and our great discouragements. We need not become filled with fear and dread when we realize our mistakes. With a repentant heart, we can approach Him with freedom and with confidence. He accepts us graciously, assuring us of His forgiveness.
