Proverbs 14:21b says, "Blessed is he who is kind to the needy." So, who are the needy, anyway?
Well, you might say that it is someone who is poor or doesn’t own much. That may be one definition, yet I feel there is more.
If I consider the "needy" as those who simply need something, I have clarified it in a broader sense. Think of it this way: If I encounter someone who is crying—-are they in need? Do they feel lonely or rejected? What kindness might I show? What if I encounter someone who is physically ill—-are they in need? Do they feel great pain? What kindness would benefit them? What about others that we see who are struggling financially? Confused about their faith? What kindness should we show?
As we offer specific acts of kindness to the "needy" in our world, we show the love of Christ, ministering to each heart, one at a time.
